A  Message from the President

Greetings!

On behalf of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, Beta Zeta Omega Chapter, welcome to our website. We are thrilled you have taken the opportunity to visit us and learn about the chapter's history, our programs, events and more. Our site is designed to keep members and the Orangeburg community informed about the local delivery of the Sorority's 2022-2026 programmatic service initiatives, conceptualized and led by our 31st International President, Danette Anthony Reed, under the theme, "Soaring to Greater Heights of Service & Sisterhood”.

We are guided by principles of Sisterhood, Supporting the Family Unit, Economics, Environment, Social Justice and Community in six International program initiative areas: Strengthen Our Sisterhood, Empower Our Families, Build Our Economic Wealth, Enhance Our Environment, Advocate for Social Justice, and Uplift Our Local Community.

Chartered December 19, 1934, Beta Zeta Omega is the first chapter established for graduate members of any sorority for African-American women in the state of South Carolina and is also the second oldest graduate chapter in the South Atlantic Region, which comprises Florida, Georgia and South Carolina.

For 89 years, Beta Zeta Omega has been serving the Orangeburg community through programs focusing on awareness, advocacy, and action in the areas of leadership development, health, environmental sustainability, global poverty and economic security.
Through Alpha Kappa Alpha, our 20 founders discovered unity in friendship and purpose in service, and we take pride in the privilege of perpetuating their legacy. The symbolic representation of the 20 pearls that we wear over our hearts, inspires us to celebrate their story and remain committed delivering programs and services that help empower those whom we serve.

As we continue to move forward into our second century of service, we will soar to greater heights of service and sisterhood in our community and our unending quest to be "Supreme in Service to All Mankind.'

Thank you again for visiting our website. I also encourage you to follow us via Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram, where you will discover more about how we positively impact the community.

Sincerely,

Latosha C. Legree
